Beaches

Cala Egos has two beaches within a 5 minute walk of the apartments and there are a number of other fine beaches within easy driving distance.

Shopping

Markets, regular markets are held throughout the island. Most tend to start quite early in the morning (around 8am) and finish just after 1am . Some of the larger ones are:

• Alcudia - Tuesdays and Sundays
• Andrat - Wednesday
• Felanitx - Sunday
• Inca - Thursday.

Palma, the old city has undergone a comprehensive restoration programme over the last few years. It is easily explored on foot, by wandering amongst its maze of narrow streets leading up from Passeig Born. There are endless shoe shops as well as shops selling many well recognised brand names.

Transport

Taxis are numerous and a cheap way to get around, prices for common fares are often advertised at the Taxi ranks, and the driver should also carry a copy. Always agree a price with the driver beforehand for trips further away.

Trains, there are two railway lines in Mallorca, both have terminals in the Placa d'Espanya in Palma . The first one is narrow gauge track and runs north through the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains to the town of Soller , the scenery is breathtaking.

The second route heads north across the plains to Inca and on to Sa Pobla.

Walks range from steep mountain routes to easier coastal paths. The walk along the north west coast in the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains is recognised as being the best on the island. There is a free leaflet "20 Hiking Excursions on the island of Mallorca " which can be picked up at any of the tourist offices.

Organised cycle rides are available around the east coast (Mallorquin Bikes of Cala d'Or). They offer a popular family tour with a break and a picnic lunch at a small secluded beach
